Deepfake
Last updated
AI-generated or altered **video, audio, or images** that make a real person appear to say or do something they did not.
When to use
Discussing fraud, impersonation, election misinformation, non-consensual imagery, or cloned voices in scams.
When not to
Not every edited photo or filter is a deepfake — routine retouching or obvious CGI in movies is different from deceptive likeness swap.
Example
A video of a CEO announcing a merger that never happened — voice and face matched convincingly enough to move a stock price.
